we are a non-profit reptile and small animal rescue that is licensed, regulated, and inspected by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Nestled on a serene four and a half acres, we were established in 2020
and are very proud of the work we've accomplished so far.
We are current and active partners with the Indian River County Pelican Island Audubon Society supporting their "Audubon Advocates" program. We provide the opportunity to interact with live animals like turtles, tortoises, lizards, and even snakes for the kids to see, touch, and hold while educating them along the way about these amazing critters and their place in our world. We not only bring the animals to schools and classrooms, we also have kids visit us as part of their summer camp programs for an exciting almost two hour tour and interactive experience!
We are also partners with the Indian River County Environmental Learning Center , another fantastic organization whose mission is to educate, inspire, and empower all people to be active stewards of the environment and their own well-being. We're working on building additional outreach projects as well and anyone out there who has an idea or an organization that would like to network with us, please don't hesitate to contact us!
The old adage, "the only good snake is a dead snake" is a perfect example of the ignorance and unhealthy fear that has been passed down from one generation to the next and we all need to break the cycle.
People fear or hate something just because they don't understand it and sadly, never get to see its true beauty.
To care about something, it needs to be relevant to you or touch your life somehow.
We try to make this happen with opportunities for hands on interaction with our amazing animals for all ages, but mostly our focus is the youth, for theirs is the future!
We want to touch as many young lives as possible to help them realize how important they are in the preservation of their future and the fate of nature on this planet.
How about a new adage, "the only good person is an educated person." ?
We should be continually learning and growing at every age or stage of life.
And so we are here to have a place that helps people see the benefit, beauty, and important roll these often misunderstood animals play on our beautiful planet and fragile ecosystem. As Kermit the Frog once said, "It's not easy being green.". Though not furry and snugly, reptiles have a unique beauty that is something to be admired and some might even say, loved.
One thing that has always drawn me to reptiles is that even after 40yrs of studying them I still learn something new about these incredible creatures at every turn. They truly are a unique part of the animal’s kingdom and given the opportunity to interact with them I hope you will see it too.
